Sergio Mora is a multidisciplinary performance artist who moves freely among the worlds of theatre and dance as he continues to develop his own unique style of artistic self-expression. Sergio Mora's work in multidisciplinary performance has been featured in the U.S. at events such as Edgezones' Miami Performance International Festival, North Miami Contemporary Arts Collective: NOMAC Live, The Field Miami, nd performed, curated and worked closely in the greater Fort Lauderdale area with galleries such as World and Eye founded by Jeannie Minuchin and Life & Matter Gallery and Artspace co-produced by Samson Hertz and Magali Willensky. Mora has toured internationally as part of the Diverse Universe Festival - a touring festival created by Al Padrok, Founder & Art Director of NonGrata (Estonia) As a member of Nongrata and part of the Diverse Universe tours Mora has created countless solo and collaborative performances from the heart of Mexico City to several destinations throughout the countries of Scandinavia. Mora's work been featured at esteemed Miami Art Week fairs such as PerforMIA by Edgezones' (MIA) Curated by Charo Oquet and the Satellite Art Fair by Performance is Alive (NYC) curated by Quinn Dukes . Notably Mora was the first Latin-American, to perform at the annual Festival Moment (Finland) curated by Ursula Sepponen in the Summer of 2018 representing the U.S. at large. In December of 2018 he performed a durational piece at WildEmbeddinS in Brooklyn, New York and closed out the Diverse Universe Performance Festival 2018 with a boundary pushing large scale multi-sensory performance to celebrate the end of Nongrata's Diverse Universe World Tour 2019. In 2012 he acted in Antiheroes Project’s large-scale physical theatre production Mahagonny by Bertolt Brecht under the direction of Jose Manuel Dominguez. Mora has also written and performed solo theatre work for the Miami chapter of the New York City based performance initiative The Field, including “Mud and Water” in 2012, and “Chains” in 2010. Currently he also serves as community coordinator for Orange Island Arts Foundation, a literary arts organization in Broward County Florida, whose mission is to cultivate community through the written word. He also works with poetry outreach program Eat Your Poem which seeks to “spread light and love through the poetic word” as a teaching artist bringing poetry readings, writing workshops and other poetic programming to groups of children and adults. |
